The story

When the sinks, infant Dorothy Hunter is orphaned, but inherits a fortune. She is brought up by John Connors, whose wife also perished in the disaster. He goes to such great lengths to protect her privacy that, though she has grown into adulthood and acquired the title of the richest girl in the world, the newspapers do not have an up-to-date photograph of her.
