The story
In rural Oklahoma, beekeeper and bluegrass musician Amziah King is tasked by an agent to identify a truckload of stolen honey. When his former employee Remmick and friend Colmar arrive to assist, a chaotic incident involving a honey extractor leads to a frantic trip to the hospital. Amziah eventually takes in his former foster daughter, Kateri, and introduces her to his community and his passion for beekeeping. However, the peace is shattered when Amziah's hives are stolen, leading to his sudden death. Kateri is left to manage the struggling business and must decide how to handle the debt and the loss of Amziah's legacy.

After Amziah King dies from a heart attack following the theft of his honey hives, his foster daughter Kateri inherits his struggling business. Determined to reclaim his legacy, Kateri works with a local criminal, Oat, to track the thieves. She discovers the hives were stolen by Wenyon Amos Stone, who works for a wealthy businessman, Dob McCoy. Kateri eventually kills Wenyon and attempts to steal the hives back with Remmick's help. After a failed auction where she is outbid by Dob, Kateri seeks revenge. She poisons Dob's wife with castor beans at a church potluck. This leads to a high-speed chase where Dob is eventually killed by a freight train. Following the resolution of the legal fallout, Kateri, joined by her allies, successfully reclaims the hives and establishes herself as the new leader of the local honey trade.
