A flock of sheep must solve the mystery of their shepherd's death in a world where they believe they turn into clouds when they die.
The story
On a farm near the English village of Denbrook, shepherd George Hardy is found dead, and the local police begin an investigation into his death. While the humans—including a reporter, a local officer, and a recently arrived relative—grapple with the legal and personal fallout of the tragedy, the flock of sheep decides to take matters into their own hands. Led by a crime-obsessed ewe named Lily, a memory-retaining ram named Mopple, and a stoic loned named Sebastian, the sheep embark on their own investigation to uncover the truth behind George's death, navigating a world where they believe death is only a fiction and they will simply turn into clouds.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After shepherd George Hardy is found dead, the local police suspect poisoning. While the human characters—including his estranged daughter Rebecca and a local reporter—deal with the legalities of his multi-millionaire estate, the sheep investigate the crime. They discover a conflict involving a neighboring shepherd, Caleb, who is secretly slaughtering sheep. During a confrontation, the sheep's companion Sebastian is mortally wounded while protecting his friends. Amidst the chaos, the sheep realize that death is real and that some of their peers have been 'forgetting' their own deaths. The investigation eventually reveals that the true killer is the reporter's identity—the man posing as 'Elliot' is actually George's son, Peter, who murdered his father to steal his fortune. After a tense standoff where the sheep help the police identify the real culprit, Rebecca is cleared of suspicion. She eventually takes over the farm, saves the local flock from slaughter, and the sheep find peace in their new lives.
