Full plot (contains spoilers)
Rosalina, the adoptive mother of the Lumas, is captured by Bowser Jr., who intends to use her powers to fuel a weapon. Meanwhile, Mario and Luigi encounter a dinosaur named Yoshi in the Mushroom Kingdom. After a Luma arrives to seek help, the group must protect the kingdom while attempting to rehabilitate Bowser. The conflict escalates as Bowser Jr. takes the castle into space, leading to a chase through the Honeyhive Galaxy and the Gateway Galaxy. The group eventually hires Fox McCloud to transport them, but they are attacked by Bowser, who uses a Super Scope to turn the brothers into babies. Yoshi eventually restores them. The journey leads them to the Comet Observatory, where Peach discovers she is Rosalina's long-lost sister. They eventually reach Planet Bowser, where Mario and Peach confront a vengeful Bowser. After a final battle where Mario defeats the villains and Peach revives Rosalina, they use their combined powers to terraform the land. The film ends with the heroes returning home to rebuild the castle while Fox McCloud returns to his own universe.
