Full plot (contains spoilers)
Four lifelong friends from Charlestown, Boston—Doug MacRay, James "Jem" Coughlin, Albert "Gloansy" MacGloan, and Desmond "Dez" Elden—rob a bank. After Doug discovers that a victim, Claire Keesey, lives in his neighborhood, he begins a relationship with her while hiding his identity. Meanwhile, the crew prepares for a final heist at Fenway Park. The plot involves a tense dynamic between the robbers and FBI Special Agent Adam Frawley. During the final heist, the group is ambushed by the FBI, leading to a violent shootout where several members are killed or wounded. Doug eventually manages to escape to Florida, leaving a note for Claire. The film concludes with Claire finding a bag of money and a note from Doug, while Doug is shown safe but alone in Florida.
