A bullied teenager gains supernatural powers from a botched faith-healing and embarks on a violent revenge spree.
The story
Kelly Mason is a bullied high school student suffering from a rare eating disorder called Pica. His life changes drastically when a drifter named Pflueger, who has stolen mystical powers from a Native American burial plot, attempts to heal him. During the process, Pflueger perishes, and the supernatural powers transfer to Kelly. Kelly discovers that his body now heals instantly and any pain inflicted upon him is reflected back onto his attacker. While his mother urges him to keep the secret, the bullies who tormented him begin to notice his new abilities after a series of violent incidents occur.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After a drifter named Pflueger steals mystical powers from a Native American burial plot to act as a faith healer, he attempts to heal Kelly Mason, a bullied student with Pica. Pflueger dies, and Kelly inherits the powers: instant healing and the ability to reflect pain back onto attackers. After a bully is killed in a car accident involving Kelly, the remaining bullies seek revenge. When the bullies cause a gas explosion that kills Kelly's mother, Kelly decides to hunt them down. He learns he can harm others by swallowing pieces of their clothing and hurting himself, leading him to drown one bully. Despite Dominique's pleas for mercy, Kelly continues his path of violence, eventually causing a bully's face to melt. After another bully gasses him, Kelly regains his strength. In a final confrontation, a sheriff accidentally kills himself and a bully while trying to shoot Kelly. Kelly agrees to a ritual with Red Elk to remove the powers, but the process is fatal. Dominique urges him to keep them, but police intervention leads to her accidental death. Grief-stricken, Kelly commits suicide to end the powers, only for Dominique to wake up fully healed, revealing the powers transferred to her.
