The story
Recovering from the trauma of witnessing a source's murder, investigative journalist Laura "Lo" Blacklock accepts an invitation from a terminally ill billionaire, Anne Bullmer. Lo joins Anne and her husband, Richard, along with other wealthy guests, aboard a luxury superyacht sailing to a fundraising gala in Norway. While trying to avoid an ex-boyfriend, Lo enters Cabin 10 and encounters a mysterious woman. After a tense evening, Lo hears a scream and finds a bloody handprint, leading her to believe something is wrong. As the voyage continues, Lo begins to question the reality of the events around her and the identity of the people on board.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After discovering a bloody handprint and a mysterious woman in Cabin 10, Lo begins to suspect a conspiracy. She learns that the woman, Carrie, is actually a lookalike hired by Richard to impersonate his terminally ill wife, Anne. Richard had murdered Anne and replaced her to secure her fortune. As the voyage progresses, Lo discovers that the ship's crew is complicit in the deception. She eventually learns that Carrie is also in danger from Richard. In the climax, Lo interrupts a gala where Richard's crimes are exposed. A confrontation ensues where Richard takes Carrie hostage. After a struggle involving a rifle and a heavy object, Richard is killed. Lo publishes an exposé on the crimes, leading to the arrest of the complicit crew members, while Carrie is able to return home.
