The story
Thor: Love and Thunder follows Thor as he attempts to find inner peace, but must return to action and recruit Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster to stop Gorr the God Butcher from eliminating all gods. Following the events of the previous film, Thor is seeking a sense of purpose while facing a new, formidable threat. He must unite with his allies and a newly empowered Jane Foster to defend the realm of the gods against Gorr, who seeks to destroy them all. The journey takes them across various realms, including the bustling city of the gods and the dangerous Shadow Realm, as they attempt to stop the villain's ultimate plan.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Gorr the God Butcher, a man seeking to destroy all gods after being mocked by his deity, wields the Necrosword and gains the power to manipulate shadows. Thor, currently a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, learns of a threat to New Asgard and teams up with Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster—who has become the Mighty Thor after her hammer Mjolnir bonded to her due to a terminal cancer diagnosis. The group travels to Omnipotence City to seek help from the other gods, but they are met with hostility from the leader, Zeus. They eventually flee to the Shadow Realm to rescue kidnapped children. During the conflict, Jane Foster uses her powers to help the group, and Thor eventually faces Gorr alone in the realm of Eternity. In a final confrontation, they destroy the Necrosword, and Thor convinces Gorr to use his final wish to revive his daughter, Love, instead of destroying the gods. Gorr dies from his curse, and Thor adopts Love. The film ends with a memorial for Jane Foster and a mid-credits scene showing Zeus's son, Hercules, seeking revenge.
