Tiefwassertaucher unterm Dach (2024)

Annie Breuer is a single mother in her mid-thirties. She lives with her two children, Tino and Lena, on the top floor of an old apartment building in a Vienna suburb. Annie suffers from an organic psychosyndrome; some days are better, and some are worse. When Annie is doing worse, her older son Tino looks after his little sister. Annie is under the care of Dr. Anoush Kamrani, who wants to have her admitted to hospital, but Annie refuses. For many years, Richard showed little interest in being a father and chose a career in England over raising their children together. Now he has returned to Vienna and wants to care for his daughter Lena. He wants sole custody of Lena, but Annie ignores a letter from his lawyer, Patrick Bleidorn. Richard also contacts Rosa Szegedi of the youth welfare office. After a swimming accident in the Danube, Annie is admitted to hospital. Her doctor, Kamrani, suspects a suicide attempt. Once Annie regains consciousness, she flees the hospital. Saba Abun, Jakob Zachler, Tommy Urban and Mark Kehrmayr share an apartment in the building. While Annie is away, Saba and Tino’s neighbour and friend, Elke Reiter, support the siblings, Lena and Tino. For Richard, who is broke and is losing his rented apartment because he has fallen behind on payments, Saba bakes cookies containing hallucinogens belonging to one of the people in the shared apartment. Richard eats them before his appointment with Rosa Szegedi, leaving a bad impression on her. Annie eventually has to spend an extended period in hospital for planned treatment. While she is away, Richard, who has found a new apartment for himself and Lena, and the building’s other residents will take care of the two children together.
