A modern replica of the Titanic faces a catastrophic fate when global warming triggers a repeat of history on a deadly scale.
The story
On April 10, 2012, a new luxury cruise liner, the RMS Titanic II, embarks on a maiden voyage from New York City to Southampton, following the original Titanic's route in reverse. While the ship is in the Atlantic, the crew is alerted to a tsunami caused by global warming in Greenland. In a desperate rush to reach shore, one of the ship's engines is damaged. Immediately following, a massive wave and a large iceberg ram into the vessel, causing severe damage to the starboard side and injuring many passengers.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The RMS Titanic II sets off on a reverse route from New York to Southampton. During the crossing, a tsunami caused by melting glaciers in Greenland strikes. One engine is damaged, and a wave and iceberg ram the ship, crushing the starboard side. Ship's owner Hayden Walsh and nurse Amy Maine attempt to evacuate with their colleague Kelly Wade. Meanwhile, a larger tsunami causes the ship's turbines to explode, killing Captain Will Howard and causing a massive fire. Amy's father, Coast Guard Captain James Maine, warns her to stay out of lifeboats as the second wave will wash them away. Kelly is crushed by a heavy door, and a trapped person dies behind a jammed door in the diving facility. Hayden gives Amy the only oxygen tank and sacrifices himself so she can survive. Captain Maine swims into the sinking ship to rescue Amy, but his helicopter crashes. The ship capsizes and sinks, leaving Amy as the sole known survivor.
