A couple moving to the countryside finds themselves afflicted by a horrific, supernatural curse that physically binds them together.
The story
Millie Wilson and her boyfriend Tim Brassington move to the countryside, where Millie takes a job teaching elementary school English. While hiking near their new home, the couple falls into an underground cave during a rainstorm and decides to camp inside. Upon waking, they discover their legs are partially stuck together by a mysterious gooey material. As they attempt to navigate their new life, Tim begins experiencing strange physical episodes where he is inexplicably drawn to Millie. They soon learn that their experience in the cave may be linked to a local mystery involving a nearby New Age church and a missing couple.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After a series of escalating physical incidents, Tim and Millie's bodies begin to fuse in various ways, including their arms and genitals. They discover that the cave they entered was a New Age church where a couple is currently trapped as a 'grotesque hybrid.' They eventually learn that their neighbor, Jamie, is actually two men fused together who believe they have become 'whole.' After a confrontation where Jamie attempts to force them to join him, the couple faces a final choice. Tim initially tries to sacrifice himself to save Millie from their shared fate, but they ultimately choose to embrace their love and willingly fuse into a single, androgynous being. The film ends with Millie's parents visiting and meeting the newly unified couple.
