A teenager travels back to 1987 to stop a serial killer from murdering her mother.
The story
In the present day of 2023, teenager Jamie Hughes is devastated when her mother, Pam, is murdered by a killer who has been active for over 30 years. To save her mother's life, Jamie utilizes a time machine built for a school project to travel back to 1987. There, she must navigate the past and team up with her mother to stop the 'Sweet 16 Killer' during his original spree. Jamie must successfully intervene in the events of the past to ensure her mother's survival and then find a way to return to her own timeline before she becomes trapped in the past forever.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 1987, the 'Sweet 16 Killer' murdered three girls in the town of Vernon. In 2023, Jamie Hughes' mother, Pam, is killed by the same killer. Jamie uses a school project time machine to travel back to 1987 to stop the killer. She joins forces with her mother and others to change the timeline. While she successfully alters some events, a second killer—revealed to be Chris from the present—appears in the past. After a confrontation in a new time machine, Jamie defeats Chris and returns to 2023. She finds her mother alive, but the timeline has shifted: she now has an older brother and a different name, Colette, while the world around her has adjusted to the changes she made in the past.
