A jealous cowboy doll and a space ranger action figure must navigate a perilous journey after being separated from their owner.

The story

Set in a world where toys come to life, Toy Story follows an old-fashioned cowboy doll named Woody, who becomes jealous that a space cadet action figure, Buzz Lightyear, is replacing him as the favorite toy of their owner Andy. When the two toys are accidentally separated and end up in the hands of a menacing neighbor, they must work together to find their way back to Andy. The story explores the inner lives of toys who secretly come to life when humans are not around, and the growing bond between two very different toys who must overcome their differences to survive.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In a world where toys are sentient but pretend to be lifeless around humans, a group of toys led by Sheriff Woody prepare to move to a new house with their owner, Andy. During a birthday party, Andy receives a new Buzz Lightyear action figure, who believes he is a real Space Ranger. Woody's jealousy leads to a confrontation where the two are accidentally separated and end up on a moving truck. They eventually find themselves in the house of Sid Phillips, a neighbor who destroys toys. Buzz suffers an existential crisis upon seeing a commercial and realizes he is a toy. After a night of teamwork, they escape Sid's house and navigate a perilous journey to reach Andy's moving truck. They successfully reunite with the other toys and land safely in the new house, where they eventually welcome a new puppy.
