The story
Set on the technological world of Cybertron, the story follows Orion Pax, a cogless mining robot, and his best friend D-16. While working in the underground city of Iacon, the two navigate a rigid social hierarchy and a dangerous mining environment. After a series of incidents involving a quest for the Matrix of Leadership and a discovery in a nearby cave, the pair, along with allies Elita-1 and B-127, find themselves caught in a growing conflict involving the planet's leadership and the truth about the Cybertronians' origins.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
On the world of Cybertron, Orion Pax and D-16 are miners who discover the truth about the 'Primes' and the deception of the ruler, Sentinel Prime. After finding the ancient Alpha Trion, they learn that Sentinel is a pretender who has been selling out the planet to the Quintessons. The group is eventually split during a battle with the High Guard. D-16, fueled by anger and a sense of betrayal, takes command of the High Guard and eventually renames himself Megatron after a violent confrontation with Sentinel. Orion Pax, however, is chosen by the deity Primus to become Optimus Prime. The film ends with the two former friends leading opposing factions: the Autobots and the Decepticons, as they begin a war for the fate of Cybertron.
