A man's son is pulled into a digital reality to find his missing father.

The story

Twenty years after the mysterious disappearance of Kevin Flynn, the CEO of ENCOM, his son Sam discovers a hidden message from his father. Upon investigating, Sam is pulled into 'the Grid,' a vast virtual reality created by his father. Within this digital world, Sam must navigate a dangerous landscape and team up with a skilled warrior named Quorra. Together, they must confront the malevolent digital mirror image of his father, Clu, who seeks to use the Grid's power to invade the real world. The journey forces Sam to confront the truth of his father's legacy while fighting to survive the digital realm's dangers.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In 1989, Kevin Flynn disappeared while developing a digital frontier. In the present, his son Sam discovers a hidden message in his father's old arcade. Upon entering the arcade, he is digitized and transported into the Grid. He is captured by the program Rinzler and taken to Clu, a corrupt ruler who resembles a young Flynn. Sam is rescued by Quorra, an 'isomorphic algorithm' and apprentice of Flynn. They learn that Clu betrayed Flynn and the other programs to seize control of the Grid. Clu intends to use Flynn's 'identity disc' to open a portal to the real world. Sam and his father, who is still alive within the system, must navigate the Grid to stop Clu. They travel to the 'End of Line Club' to find a way to the portal. After a series of battles and betrayals, including the revelation that Rinzler is actually the reprogrammed Tron, the trio faces Clu's forces. In a final confrontation, Kevin Flynn sacrifices himself to destroy Clu and his forces, allowing Sam and Quorra to escape back to the real world. Sam eventually takes over ENCOM, and he and Quorra remain together as the sun rises.
