Tulpen aus Amsterdam (2010)

The sisters Anna and Lilli could hardly be more different. Anna Lechner lives in Amsterdam, where she works as a flower wholesaler, and has found her dream man in tulip grower Ed Verkerk. The only thing missing from their happiness is a child together. Since they cannot conceive naturally, they are both considering adoption. But then she receives devastating news from Munich: her father, Wenzel, is in the hospital. She rushes to his side and, as he lies on his deathbed, promises to take care of Lilli. Lilli is the complete opposite of her sister. Ever since a car accident in her childhood in which her mother died, she has had difficulty walking and relies on leg braces. This has not only destroyed her self-confidence; her insecurities also keep her from managing the family flower-delivery business. After their father dies, Anna decides to stay in Munich for the time being and help her sister run the family business. But she acts as though she has to protect Lilli, so Lilli soon feels patronized. Tensions develop between them. However, Anna cannot bring herself to leave Lilli on her own, and risks her relationship with her beloved Ed as a result. Lilli has no idea. She meets a doctor named Lorenz, who tells her about a newly developed surgical procedure. Perhaps Lilli will soon be able to walk properly again. He also makes her feel like an attractive woman rather than a disabled person to be pitied, and she is on cloud nine. Anna reacts skeptically because she fears Lilli may be disappointed by false expectations. So she talks to Lorenz, which Lilli sees; she believes her sister is trying to steal him away from her.
