The story
Seventeen-year-old Bella Swan moves from Phoenix, Arizona, to the small town of Forks, Washington, to live with her father. While attending school, she becomes intrigued by the mysterious Cullen siblings. After Edward Cullen saves her from a van in the school parking lot, the two begin to develop a relationship. Bella eventually discovers that Edward is a vampire who only consumes animal blood. However, their burgeoning romance is complicated by the fact that Edward's family must keep their identity secret while dealing with the threat of other, more dangerous vampires who are drawn to Bella's scent.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After moving to Forks, Washington, Bella Swan meets the Cullen family, a group of vampires who live as 'vegetarians.' Bella and Edward Cullen fall in love, but their relationship is threatened by the arrival of three nomadic vampires: James, Victoria, and Laurent. James, a tracker, becomes obsessed with hunting Bella. The Cullens work to protect her, and during a confrontation in a ballet studio, the Cullens defeat James. Although Bella is infected with vampire venom during the struggle, Edward manages to remove it before she transforms. In the aftermath, the two attend the prom, while Victoria watches from the shadows, plotting revenge for James' death.
