Full plot (contains spoilers)
An English commando unit must kill Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, who is advancing with the Afrika Korps. Shortly before the attack, a man is sent on a suicide mission to make the Germans find a false map of the English minefields. Seeing him wounded, an American lieutenant tries to save him, putting the rest of the commando unit in trouble. This action leads to conflict between the lieutenant and the English captain, his superior. Despite this, the men are sent together to El Daba, behind German lines, to kill Rommel. When they arrive at El Daba airport, they discover that Rommel has already left. Their retreat begins, with the Germans in pursuit, as they make a desperate attempt to get back to their own lines.
