The story
In the Ardennes, plans to close Rochebrune’s main factory fuel social tensions, and workers are supported in their strike by Johnny Laforge, an outsider recently released after seven years in prison for shooting his former boss. Seeking money to help the workers, Johnny sets out to rob an armored bank van. The robbery ends with a security guard dead, and Johnny disappears with the money. The highly publicized crime draws Paul Ligre, Johnny’s childhood friend and now a writer, back to the area after fifteen years apart. He and Anna Werner, a local gendarme assigned to the case, begin competing to find Johnny.
