A retired Navy SEAL must fight to save passengers on a train hijacked by terrorists seeking to launch a devastating satellite weapon.

The story

Following his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Casey Ryback settles in Denver, where he runs a restaurant. When he receives news of the death of his estranged brother, James, in a plane crash, Casey meets James's daughter, Sarah, whom he will accompany to LA to attend his funeral. The two board the Grand Continental, a train traveling through the Rocky Mountains from Denver to LA. On board, they befriend a steward/porter named Bobby Zachs and the train's chefs. As the train reaches the Rocky Mountains, a group of terrorists flags it down and murders the engineer and brakeman, taking the passengers and staff hostage.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After his brother's death, retired Navy SEAL Casey Ryback accompanies his niece Sarah on a train from Denver to Los Angeles. The train is hijacked by a group of terrorists led by Travis Dane, a former government employee and computer genius, and Marcus Penn, a mercenary. Dane intends to use a top-secret military satellite weapon, Grazer One, to destroy the Eastern seaboard. He holds passengers hostage and demands codes from former colleagues. While the U.S. government struggles to locate the train, Ryback works with a porter named Bobby Zachs to resist the terrorists. Ryback eventually kills several mercenaries and releases the hostages. A collision course with a freight train is discovered, and Ryback manages to neutralize the mercenaries. Dane attempts to use the satellite to destroy F-117 stealth aircraft sent to stop him. In a final confrontation, Ryback shoots Dane, who falls from the train. The satellite is destroyed by remote control just before it can fire. The train crashes into a bridge, and Ryback escapes via a helicopter rope ladder, leaving Dane to fall to his death. Ryback later informs the Pentagon that the passengers are safe.
