A skeptical podcaster's life spirals into paranoia after she and her friend begin investigating a series of disturbing audio files.

The story

Evy is a woman with a Catholic upbringing who lives alone with her comatose mother. She co-hosts a horror podcast called The Undertone with her friend Justin, who is a believer in the supernatural while she remains a skeptic. Their dynamic is challenged when Justin receives an anonymous email containing ten audio files from a couple named Mike and Jessa. As they play the recordings on their podcast, the content begins to evoke a sense of dread. Evy soon finds herself increasingly drawn into a web of fear and paranoia as the recordings suggest a terrifying reality beyond the digital files.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Evy and Justin host 'The Undertone,' a podcast where they analyze supernatural occurrences. When they receive ten audio files from a couple, Mike and Jessa, they begin to uncover disturbing hidden messages in children's songs. Evy discovers she is pregnant and feels unfit to be a mother, while the audio files reveal the name of a demon, Abyzou, associated with miscarriages and violence. As Evy's home begins to exhibit supernatural phenomena—such as her mother moving and objects reappearing—the situation escalates. A caller reveals that Mike and Jessa were found dead with plastic bags over their heads. A final caller, Abby, is heard pleading for help with a crying child before the situation turns tragic. Evy eventually realizes her mother has died and, amidst a house covered in macabre drawings of the demon, she is confronted by her mother's spirit and utters the phrase 'come in, Abyzou.'
