Uns reicht das nicht (1978)

Gerd is a young locksmith apprentice. He is very rebellious, and one day, during an argument with his master, he loses control and gets into a physical altercation. As a result, he is fired without notice. But Gerd has no intention of looking for another apprenticeship or job. He wants to be free and enjoy life, not end up like his father, who worked until the end of his life for “nothing at all.” He would much rather travel around the world on motorcycles with his girlfriend Anna, the daughter of an Italian laborer, and his best friends Jörg and Thomas, along with their girlfriends Gerda and Ilse. They make music together and throw a raucous party in an empty villa. Gerd and Jörg keep themselves afloat financially with odd jobs. When a car damages Gerd’s motorcycle, they try to forge an insurance invoice. Gerd steals a motorcycle of the same type as his damaged one, buys another motorcycle cheaply to strip for parts, and uses the various parts to assemble two new motorcycles. The group dreams of having their own workshop, which they hope to finance with the money they make from their criminal scheme. A short time later, during one of their motorcycle trips together, a driver forces Jörg off the road, and he dies at the scene. The driver responsible flees the scene. Shocked by Jörg’s death, Gerda and Ilse leave the group around Gerd, Anna, and Thomas. But Gerd and Thomas refuse to let the driver responsible get away with it and set out to find him on their own.
