Utta Danella: Von Kerlen und Kühen (2014)

Young farmer Anna helps her parents, Hans and Elisabeth, with the work on their farm in Dietramszell. Now Anna’s parents want to retire and travel together. They hope their daughter will take over the farm. To do that, though, she needs a man by her side. When her parents confront Anna with this idea, she is not pleased and is not willing to start desperately looking for a man. Anna’s friend Katrin, however, approves and, without asking Anna, creates a profile for her on an online dating platform and has posters printed showing Anna biting into a pear. Anna is appalled when she finds out what her friend has done, but she does respond to inquiries from two men. Anna’s parents also put pressure on her: they suggest Ludwig. Anna thinks he is quite likable, but by then she has taken an interest in Georg, a pilot she met while selling fruit and vegetables. Nevertheless, she gets engaged to Ludwig, since he is the only one who knows how to do farm work. But then things take a turn, and it turns out that Anna’s friend and Ludwig are in love. So Anna does get her pilot after all, but she and Ludwig—who has become a true friend to her—agree to run her parents’ farm together. Anna’s parents can now set off on their trip with peace of mind.
