Full plot (contains spoilers)
Juliane and Sarah have been inseparable sisters ever since Sarah became seriously ill as a child and nearly died. Juliane has always been the more sensible of the two and enjoys being the big sister with a protective streak. She works for her mother in the fabric shop in the small town of Mittenwald. One day, the attractive Philipp appears, and Juliane is instantly smitten. What she does not yet know is that he is the new manager of the bookstore where Sarah works, and that Sarah has been engaged to Lukas for some time. When Philipp first comes face to face with Sarah, she is instantly smitten too. Their mother, Lotte, also finds Philipp very attractive and would be glad if Juliane had a man in her life as well. So she invites him to a wine tasting at her estate. Lukas plans to propose to Sarah in front of everyone at the event, but it goes wrong straight away because Sarah suddenly feels unsure about him because of Philipp. Philipp makes it clear, however, that he greatly values her as a capable employee but would never get into a relationship with an employee. When Juliane and Philipp go on an outing together, they grow closer and sleep together. Later, she learns that Sarah has also fallen in love with Philipp and decides to step aside for her sister's sake. What she does not know is that Philipp wants nothing to do with Sarah. When Sarah finds out that Juliane and Philipp have slept together, she claims that Philipp slept with her too, in order to hurt her sister. Juliane confronts Philipp, and he tells her in no uncertain terms that it is not true, but she believes her sister over him. Sarah then quits her job at the bookstore. When Philipp asks her why, she says it is because she wants to be with him, and that can only happen if they no longer work together. As for what she told Juliane about him, she now claims that Juliane made the whole thing up just to hurt her. Philipp sets her straight, but it does not seem to do any good. Their mother, Lotte, tries to persuade Juliane to give up Philipp for Sarah's sake. In her desperate situation, Sarah flees to her favorite spot in the mountains. There, she calls Lukas and apologizes for everything. Lukas is afraid she might hurt herself, so he gets help from Juliane and Philipp. Juliane suspects where Sarah might be, and they set out to find her. In the meantime, Sarah has slipped and fallen down a slope, where she lies unconscious. They find her thanks to a key ring she dropped and take her to the hospital. Juliane then ends her relationship with Philipp because she does not want her sister to be unhappy because of it. After Sarah is discharged from the hospital, she goes first to her sister to apologize and make it clear that she no longer wants anything to do with Philipp, but is going back to Lukas. Juliane then goes to Philipp under a pretext. He is no longer sure whether he should stay in Mittenwald, but Juliane manages to convince him by telling him that she does want to be with him after all.
