A collection of five science fiction horror segments is linked together by a documentary-style frame narrative featuring interviews with ufologists.
The story
V/H/S/Beyond is presented as an anthology of five short horror films centered on science fiction tropes. The collection is structured within a frame narrative that functions as a sixth short film, styled like a documentary. This frame narrative includes interviews with ufologists and explores the origins of alien concepts. The individual segments range from a paranormal group investigating an urban legend in Canada to a police unit searching for missing children in a dilapidated house, and a paparazzi's encounter with a Bollywood sensation.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The film opens with a frame narrative where an anonymous Redditor buys cassettes allegedly containing alien evidence, leading to a documentary-style exploration of the 'Farrington House' urban legend. The first segment, 'Stork,' follows a police unit finding a house where babies are disappearing; they encounter 'Brooders' and a large stork-like creature that mutates babies. The second segment follows a family of Chinese immigrants in 1950s Toronto who experience hauntings in a Victorian home. In 'Dream Girl,' Mumbai paparazzi discover a Bollywood star who is actually a gynoid that goes on a killing spree. 'Live and Let Dive' depicts a group of friends skydiving who encounter an alien ship, leading to a series of deaths and a tractor beam abduction. 'Fur Babies' involves an activist group investigating a woman who surgically turns people into half-human, half-dog hybrids. Finally, 'Stowaway' follows a woman who enters an alien spaceship in the Mojave Desert, where she is trapped in a cycle of mutation and repair. The film concludes with the frame narrative's ufologists reacting to footage of an alien creature entering a bedroom and removing eggs from a sleeping man's body.
