Världens bästa Karlsson (1974)

The film is about a little boy named Svante, who is called Little Brother and is rather lonely. One day, he meets Karlsson-on-the-Roof. Karlsson is boastful and rather smug. He insists that he is a handsome, thoroughly wise, and just-right plump man in his prime. Little Brother is often alone, so he is happy when Karlsson-on-the-Roof flies into his room. They become friends, and Karlsson teaches Little Brother how to play tricks. Little Brother also gets to visit Karlsson at home. Karlsson carries him on his back when he flies, and when Karlsson has a fever, Little Brother makes him Kuckelimuck medicine. It consists of half sweets and half chocolate stirred into a few cake crumbs. They also manage to drive away some thieves. Both Little Brother’s friends and his parents think Karlsson-on-the-Roof is an imaginary figure who exists only in Little Brother’s mind. When Little Brother has his birthday, there is complete chaos as Karlsson flies in through the window, and at last his parents understand that he really exists. But all Little Brother wants is a little dog. As a birthday present, Little Brother gets the puppy he has wanted for so long. He becomes so occupied with it that he forgets Karlsson-on-the-Roof. Karlsson flies back to his roof. He has now done all he can for Little Brother.
