Full plot (contains spoilers)
Felix, a bachelor, enjoys life in Munich as a happy single man. He has little interest in his friends’ family lives. His annoying brother Henne, who has come to stay with him, persuades him to earn a little extra money on the side by donating sperm. When Felix loses his ability to father children in an accident involving his brother’s pet—a biting ferret named Karsten—his outlook changes, and he wants to start a family with the recipient of his sperm donation. Unfortunately, the recipient is Maren, a well-known TV presenter, so getting close to her proves difficult. Felix does not give up on his dream of having a family, however, and makes many unsuccessful attempts to approach her. For instance, he finds out which swimming pool Maren regularly goes to and visits it with his godchild so he can present himself as a good father. He eventually piques Maren’s interest, as problems arise in her relationship with Ralph, who is unable to father children. Maren and Felix grow closer, but during an argument between Maren’s fiancé Ralph and Felix, the fact that Felix donated sperm and was expected to become a father comes to light. When it also turns out that Felix’s sperm donation has not even been used—his brother had lied to him about it to cheer him up—Maren turns away from Felix. At first, Felix withdraws and tries to find peace, but he cannot. In a conversation with his father, he learns that his brother Henne was adopted, but that they were and still are a happy family. Felix decides to fight for Maren. He succeeds, and the two become a couple. Five years later, Maren’s young daughter is sitting beside Henne, and it is obvious that he is her biological father. Maren is now pregnant again, this time through Felix’s sperm donation.
