The story
Jakob, a prison chaplain due for promotion, looks forward to a new challenge and believes he can make a difference in the Catholic Church alongside his friends, fellow priests Dominik and Oliver. Their close friendship is built around football and relaxed meetings at a pub. Their world shifts when Dominik is taken into pretrial detention on suspicion of sexual abuse. Jakob initially believes the accusation is mistaken, but statements from the alleged victim, Mike Rubin, and his mother, Vera, begin to raise doubts. As the allegations become harder to dismiss, Jakob faces a painful conflict between his loyalty to Dominik and the possibility that the accusations are true.

The three friends share a belief that they can make a difference in the Catholic Church. When Dominik is taken into pretrial detention on suspicion of sexual abuse, Jakob is convinced it is a mistake. But the allegations made by Mike Rubin, the alleged victim, and his mother, Vera, soon sow doubt in him. Jakob manages to elicit a confession from Dominik, and their friendship is put to a severe test. Torn between his loyalty and the serious accusations, Jakob finally decides to go to the public prosecutor’s office.
