Full plot (contains spoilers)
Nine years after the series finale, Veronica Mars leaves her life in New York City to return to Neptune, California, to help her ex-boyfriend Logan Echolls, a Navy Lieutenant accused of murdering his girlfriend, Carrie Bishop. Reuniting with her father, Keith Mars, Veronica investigates Carrie's death and discovers it is linked to the disappearance of Susan Knight nine years prior. During her high school reunion, she learns that former biker Weevil Navarro is now a reformed family man. After a confrontation involving a sex tape and a fight at the reunion, Veronica learns that Carrie was killed because she threatened to confess to a cover-up involving several people who were on a boat the night Susan disappeared. Veronica discovers that Vinnie Van Lowe has been selling compromising videos of celebrities. She eventually proves that Gia Goodman and Luke Haldeman killed Carrie to frame Logan. Despite Sheriff Lamb's refusal to act, Veronica records his refusal. After a violent confrontation where Gia reveals that Stu "Cobb" Cobbler was the mastermind who took photos of the crime, Veronica lures Cobb to a basement and beats him unconscious. Cobb is eventually arrested. Logan returns to the Navy, and Veronica takes over her father's private investigator business with Mac as her assistant, dedicated to fighting Neptune's corruption.
