A rescue team must navigate treacherous conditions to save a group of climbers trapped in a crevasse on the mountain K2.

The story

After a tragic accident involving their father, siblings Peter and Annie remain estranged until they reunite at the base camp of K2. Annie, a renowned mountaineer, is leading an expedition funded by a billionaire, while Peter, who has retired from climbing, is there to support her. When an avalanche traps Annie and several others in a crevasse, Peter must assemble a specialized rescue team. The team must navigate treacherous terrain and unpredictable weather to reach the survivors, facing internal tensions and the deadly hazards of high-altitude climbing.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The story begins with a tragic accident in Monument Valley where Peter and Annie's father, Royce, dies after Peter is forced to cut his safety rope. Three years later, the siblings reunite at the base of K2. Annie is leading a high-stakes expedition funded by billionaire Elliot Vaughn. During the ascent, an avalanche traps Annie, Vaughn, and lead climber Tom McLaren in a crevasse. Peter forms a rescue team consisting of himself, Montgomery Wick (who is seeking his wife's body), and others. The rescue is plagued by accidents involving exploding nitroglycerine canisters. Below the surface, Annie and Vaughn face a shortage of dexamethasone; Vaughn eventually kills McLaren to preserve his own supply. Above, Wick discovers Vaughn's role in his wife's death. During the final rescue, a boulder falls, and Wick chooses to cut his rope to ensure Annie's safety, falling to his death along with Vaughn. Annie and Peter eventually reconcile at a memorial for those lost on the mountain.
