The story

Polly, a woman in her 30s struggling with a dead-end job, lives in a house rented from her sister. While preparing for an important interview, she is visited by an elderly woman who gifts her a small wooden box and an hourglass, claiming Polly will die that night. As the entity's influence grows, Polly must decide how to handle the mysterious object and the escalating supernatural threats within her home.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Polly, a woman in her 30s, is told by an elderly woman that she will die that night and is given a wooden box and an hourglass. A malevolent entity impersonating her mother demands she give the box something she hates, needs, and loves. After the entity forces a neighbor to commit suicide, Polly begins making sacrifices to the box, including a cross necklace and her own fingers. She eventually discovers her sister's family is dead and, after a violent encounter with a ghostly child, realizes she must pass the box to someone else. She forces the box onto a neighbor named Tara. In the end, Polly finds the box gone and her neighbor alive, though it is revealed Tara has already sacrificed her own parents and several fingers to the entity.
