The story
Wallace has invented a robotic garden gnome called Norbot and opens a business hiring it out to work in gardens. Gromit feels left out and is concerned about his owner's reliance on technology, while expressing annoyance towards Norbot. However, the criminal penguin Feathers McGraw hears about Norbot on the news. Seeking revenge against Wallace and Gromit for past events, Feathers hacks into and reprograms Norbot to serve him and mass-produce an army of gnomes. As the gnomes begin stealing objects across the city, the local police begin to suspect Wallace's involvement, leading to the confiscation of his inventions.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After the police seize his inventions, Gromit tracks the rogue gnomes to a zoo where Feathers McGraw is held. He discovers the gnomes are building a submarine for Feathers' escape. During a confrontation, the gnomes are momentarily reset. Meanwhile, the Blue Diamond is moved to a museum, but Feathers had hidden it at Wallace's house. Wallace and Gromit are captured by the gnomes and detained in a pantry. They eventually escape and pursue Feathers down a canal on narrowboats while the police give chase. During a tense standoff on a precarious aqueduct, Wallace convinces Gromit to let Feathers take the diamond's bag before they jump. Feathers escapes to Yorkshire but realizes Gromit tricked him. Wallace is exonerated, Mackintosh retires, and Gromit develops a new respect for Norbot.
