The story
American couple Julia and Francis relocate to Bucharest, moving into an apartment building with a large picture window. While Francis works long hours, Julia grows unnerved by a man in the building across the street, who watches her on a daily basis. Her fears are heightened when she learns of a serial killer, dubbed "the Spider" by local media, who is decapitating young women. In the city one day, she senses a man following her to a theatre and a supermarket, but when Francis and Julia visit the market to review security footage, it proves inconclusive.

American couple Julia and Francis relocate to Bucharest, moving into an apartment building with a large picture window. While Francis works long hours, Julia grows unnerved by a man in the building across the street, who watches her on a daily basis. Her fears are heightened when she learns of a serial killer, dubbed "the Spider" by local media, who is decapitating young women. Julia befriends her neighbour, Irina, who shows her a pistol for protection. After Julia waves at the man in the window and he waves back, she calls the police, but her husband Francis dismisses her concerns as overreacting. Julia eventually follows the man to a strip club where he works as a janitor. One night, Julia hears a scream from Irina's apartment and finds Irina missing. Later, Julia confronts the janitor, Daniel Weber, who accuses her of stalking him. After a police officer calls it a misunderstanding, Julia notices Daniel in a subway car with a shopping bag containing what looks like a severed head. Julia returns home to find Irina's headless corpse in her apartment; Daniel smothers her and then slashes Julia's throat. However, Julia feigns death, and when Francis enters the room, she kills Daniel with Irina's pistol and stands before him covered in blood.
