The film follows Tobias Durand and Almut Brühl over a decade using a nonlinear narrative. Their relationship begins after a car accident involving Tobias and Almut. They eventually fall in love and have a daughter, Ella. The story takes a turn when Almut is diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After a period of remission and a successful pregnancy, the cancer returns. The narrative explores their decisions regarding her treatment and her ambition to compete in the Bocuse d'Or cooking competition. Despite the conflict over her focus on the competition versus her health, they remain together. The film concludes with a poignant look at their life together, including a scene where Tobias teaches their daughter how to crack an egg, just as Almut once did for him.
