The story

Model and advertising-jingle singer Lina is busy with temporary jobs in the run-up to Christmas. At a photo shoot where she must play the Christ Child, she meets reindeer breeder Rudolf, and they take an instant dislike to each other. That evening, Lina’s longtime lover Alex arrives and says he has separated from his wife so they can have a committed relationship. After spending the night with him, Lina travels to Tyrol with her friend Nettie for another shoot. On the way back to Vienna, Lina realizes she left her phone with Rudi, and her car breaks down. Stranded, she has to get to know him better.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

For model and advertising-jingle singer Lina, the run-up to Christmas is once again a busy time. Together with her friend Nettie, the owner of an event and matchmaking agency, she lurches from one second-rate temporary job to the next. When they meet reindeer breeder Rudolf and his manager and friend Manfred at the first part of a series of photo shoots, for which Lina has to play the Christ Child, Lina and Rudolf initially take an instant dislike to each other: Lina strikes him as an eccentric model, while the nature-loving Rudolf seems odd to her. That same evening, Lina finds some consolation when her longtime lover Alex unexpectedly turns up at her door. The successful doctor tells her he has finally separated from his wife so that he can at last have a committed relationship with Lina. Overjoyed, Lina spends the night with him before setting off for Tyrol with Nettie the next day for the second part of the photo shoot. On the way back to Vienna, Lina discovers that she accidentally left her mobile phone with Rudi. When her anger and stress also cause her car to break down, she is forced to get to know not only Tyrol but Rudi better, too. To her surprise, Rudi even knows a thing or two about music and conducts the church choir. What impresses her most is his honesty, so unlike the often hypocritical behavior of her city acquaintances. Even so, the two do not admit their feelings for each other. At another photo shoot, this time at the Vienna agency, Rudi brings not only his reindeer but also his friend Manfred, who is interested in Lina’s friend Nettie. After the shoot, Rudi stays on in Vienna and asks Manfred to drive back alone and take care of the reindeer. He gathers all his courage and approaches Lina while she is sitting in a restaurant with Alex and his friends. But he does not get the response he had hoped for, and he returns to Tyrol without having achieved anything. By now, however, Lina has realized that Alex is wrong for her. To Alex’s great surprise, she ends their relationship and goes to Rudi. He is at the church for the Christmas performance, and Lina surprises him. Nettie, too, has given Manfred the impression that she would be happy if they became a couple.
