Wer rettet Dina Foxx? (2011)

Dina Foxx is an online activist who, as “Datagirl” on freidaten.org, warns users about the dangers of data collection by governments and businesses. After joining the company Avadata, she uses her reputation as a privacy advocate to promote a program that works like a digital eraser. This creates tension with her former comrades at freidaten.org. Dina’s boyfriend Vasco, who also works for Avadata, falls victim to a digital doppelgänger. He experiences increasingly threatening incidents, ranging from fraudulent account transactions and messages sent from his mobile phone to an accident involving an elevator that has been sent out of control. Vasco feels he is being watched, seems paranoid, and then suddenly disappears. When he is found dead, Dina begins investigating. She discovers that Vasco had recently been gathering information about a corporation called Qoppamax. But when the evidence in Vasco’s murder case suddenly all points to Dina, she is arrested. Dina tells the investigators that she, too, has a digital doppelgänger, which is responsible for the overwhelming evidence against her. At this point, the TV crime drama abruptly ends, and viewers are invited to save Dina, as the title suggests.
