Four best friends and their husbands navigate the complexities of modern relationships during a week-long retreat in the mountains.

The story

Four couples, who are also best friends since college, converge in a house in the mountains for a week-long retreat. The group includes a variety of personalities: a work-focused attorney and her husband, a hair salon owner and a former football player, a housewife and an entrepreneur, and a psychologist and an architect. As they gather in the mountains, the tensions of their individual marriages and the pressures of modern life begin to surface, forcing the friends to confront the difficulties of maintaining solid relationships while navigating personal conflicts and secrets during their time away from their daily lives.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Four best friends and their husbands gather at a mountain retreat. The couples include Dianne and Terry, who struggle with her work habits; Angela and Marcus, who argue frequently; Sheila and Mike, who face issues regarding her weight and his infidelity; and Patricia and Gavin. After Sheila is left behind due to her weight, she is eventually joined by Sheriff Troy Jackson. During a dinner, the group's secrets are exposed: Mike's affair with Trina, Marcus's health issues from cheating, Dianne's secret about her children, and Gavin's criticism of Patricia's parenting. Following a violent confrontation and Mike's subsequent divorce from Sheila, the couples deal with their individual crises. Sheila finds a new life with Troy, while the other couples work through their issues. Ultimately, the friends reunite at a gala where Sheila reveals she is now married to Troy and has lost weight, and the other women find renewed clarity in their respective relationships.
