Full plot (contains spoilers)

Julia Lichtenberg is in-house counsel at the Hamburg company Teigwaren Waller and also her boss Peter Waller’s mistress. She travels to the picturesque Italian city of Verona to negotiate the takeover of the Galvani family’s fine pasta-making business. Completely unexpectedly, she runs into her former lover Robert Donatius, who works as a lawyer for the Galvanis. Fifteen years ago, Robert had left Julia standing at the altar out of sheer panic, but their love slowly begins to rekindle. Before long, they are sharing romantic moments around the city and discovering both Verona’s famous and lesser-known sights. Peter’s daughter Sara is also in love—this time with Marco, the Galvanis’ son. She is furious when she learns that her father intends to “take away” the family business from the Galvanis. Peter Waller now travels to Verona as well, but before he can attend to his business, Julia tells him that she has found her old love again and wants to leave him. At the same time, Robert also breaks up with his longtime girlfriend Francesca Brunelli, who refuses to accept it without a fight. Cunningly, she tells Julia that she and Robert are engaged, that they are expecting a child, and that they will soon be moving away. Robert, too, is taken aback when he sees Julia in an intimate embrace with Waller. But the very next day, they clear up these misunderstandings and can now devote themselves wholeheartedly to their love. Meanwhile, Sara has not been idle: she has spoken to her father. He then gives up on taking over the Galvanis’ company and pays his daughter part of her inheritance, which she intends to invest in the family business. A few weeks later, Robert has arranged the wedding, but now waits in vain for his bride. He fears that Julia intends to get even with him by leaving him at the altar in turn. But the situation is resolved when Julia arrives just in time, escorted by the police. She had been driving too fast and was caught in a speed trap. But the police officers took pity on her and escorted Julia to the altar.
