Full plot (contains spoilers)
Aspiring journalist Georg is doing an internship at the Tagblatt in a small Bavarian town. But he can’t stand the stifling provincial atmosphere. He longs for the wide world beyond, which he associates with Munich. When he visits the city, he meets Kim, an eccentric American. Kim lives in a dilapidated hut in the woods, surrounded by shady characters. He has only one goal: to make it in his career at any cost. To that end, he has founded a company called Wilder Reiter GmbH. Kim hires Georg and makes him his publicity manager. Riding high on horseback, Kim ventures into the Bavarian capital, galloping across busy intersections while Georg photographs every stage of the spectacle. He captures his employer climbing into a bubble bath with a nude dancer, and heroically saving a nun’s life after driving her into the moor himself. In this way, Kim gets what he wants: he attracts attention, and his records sell like hot cakes. When Kim goes too far in his methods and becomes the victim of a staged robbery of his own making, Georg has had enough. Only with great difficulty does he eventually manage to break free from the wild crowd.
