Full plot (contains spoilers)
King Magnifico and Queen Amaya rule Rosas, a kingdom where Magnifico uses sorcery to store and grant the citizens' wishes. While the people are safe, they must surrender the memory of their desires to him. Asha, a 17-year-old girl, attempts to become Magnifico's apprentice to help her grandfather, Sabino, but is rebuffed when she questions his hoarding of the wishes. Following a desperate plea, she summons a sentient star named Star. Star’s magic grants local animals the ability to speak, and the two begin a quest to retrieve the stolen wishes. Magnifico, sensing a threat and becoming increasingly paranoid, turns to dark magic to maintain his power. After a betrayal by her friend Simon, who seeks to become a knight, Asha and her friends must infiltrate the castle. They eventually confront Magnifico, who attempts to absorb all the magic. In a final stand, Asha inspires the citizens to collectively wish for a new future, breaking Magnifico's hold, trapping him in a mirror, and freeing the wishes and Star. The kingdom is left in the hands of Queen Amaya, with the people finally free to pursue their own dreams.
