The story
In 1995, a hiker's disappearance in the Oregon mountains leads to rumors of a virus called 'hill fever.' Thirty years later, Blake Lovell, a man struggling with a strained marriage and a short temper, receives his estranged father's death certificate and the keys to his childhood home. While traveling to the remote property with his wife Charlotte and daughter Ginger, the family encounters a mysterious creature. After a violent encounter leaves Blake infected, the family retreats to the house. As Blake begins to physically and mentally transform into a monster, the family must navigate the escalating danger of the creature and the man becoming it.

In 1995, a hiker's disappearance in the Oregon mountains sparks rumors of 'hill fever.' Thirty years later, Blake Lovell travels to his childhood home with his wife Charlotte and daughter Ginger. During the journey, they encounter a creature that injures Blake. While barricaded in the house, Blake begins a painful transformation, losing his ability to speak and developing canine features. The creature eventually reveals itself as a werewolf, and Blake realizes it is his long-lost father, Grady. After a desperate battle where Blake manages to defeat the werewolf but remains infected, he eventually loses his humanity. In the final confrontation, Charlotte and Ginger hide in a hunting blind as the sun rises. Despite Blake's pleas for mercy, Charlotte is forced to shoot him to end his suffering, and he dies in the peace of the valley he loved as a child.
