In 1984, Diana Prince works at the Smithsonian while secretly acting as Wonder Woman. She befriends Barbara Minerva, who discovers the Dreamstone, an artifact that grants wishes but demands a heavy toll. Maxwell Lord, a businessman, finds the Dreamstone and wishes to become the stone to gain its power, allowing him to steal the life force of others who make wishes. This causes global chaos. Diana discovers the stone was created by the God of Lies. As the world faces a nuclear threat due to the President's wish, Max plans to broadcast a global wish to steal more power.
