Woyzeck (2013)

Franz Woyzeck lives with Marie and their child in the present-day Berlin district of Wedding. Woyzeck has very little self-confidence, so his captain takes advantage of him and bullies him. He recently lost his restaurant to the captain and is now doing everything he can to get it back. He spends almost all of his meager wages supporting his family. Since the money is not enough, he takes part in a medical study in which he is supposed to stay awake as long as possible. The medication, however, gives him delusions and a temporary loss of potency. To rebuild his self-esteem, Woyzeck works hard at his two other side jobs, as a track cleaner and as an assistant at his former café. As a result, he neglects Marie, who is becoming increasingly attracted to the drum major, a local Berlin neighborhood big shot. When he catches her cheating on the final day of the study, the situation escalates.
