Full plot (contains spoilers)
After a climbing accident leaves Halley Smith alone in the woods, Chris Flynn takes a detour onto a remote mountain road to avoid traffic. He encounters a group of students whose car is disabled by barbed wire. The group is soon hunted by three cannibalistic inbred mountain men: Three Finger, Saw Tooth, and One Eye. Several members of the student group are killed or disappear. The survivors, including Chris, find a cabin filled with human remains and are forced to hide. During a desperate escape, Chris is wounded, and several others are killed by the cannibals. The survivors eventually reach a watchtower and attempt to call for help, but the cannibals are alerted. After a chaotic chase through the trees and a fire at the tower, only Chris and one girl, Jessie, remain. They eventually find a vehicle and flee the area. In a mid-credits scene, a sheriff is killed by Three Finger, who survived the earlier explosion.
