Full plot (contains spoilers)
Marie and Peter’s life seems perfect, but their greatest wish remains unfulfilled: to have a family of their own. After several painfully unsuccessful attempts to conceive a child naturally, they decide to pursue an adoption in Russia. Driven by their longing, and after many months of preparation and waiting, they set off to meet their future daughter, Nina, at an orphanage thousands of miles from Germany. They have no idea yet that they are only at the beginning of a grueling ordeal against the Russian authorities—and facing the greatest challenge to their relationship. As Marie and Peter fight for their future child, the question arises: Are we still pursuing the same goal? Each on their own—and, above all, as a couple?
