The story
Shortly after his uncle dies, Horace Tumelat, a political party leader, discovers that a letter capable of harming his career has disappeared. As he searches for it, he encounters crooked police officers and blackmailers. He also falls in love with Noëlle, and his priorities shift. His jealous secretary decides to destroy the relationship, setting up a conflict around Tumelat’s new love.
