The story
Kate Parker, a classical pianist diagnosed with ALS, hires Bec Cartwell, a wild and inexperienced college student, as her new caregiver. Despite Bec's lack of professional skills and unconventional attitude, Kate finds something special in her. As Kate navigates the challenges of her illness and the complexities of her marriage to Evan, the two women form an unlikely bond. The story follows their journey as they navigate the physical and emotional toll of Kate's condition, while Bec provides a unique perspective on life and caregiving that challenges Kate's perceptions of her own situation.

Kate Parker, a classical pianist diagnosed with ALS, hires Bec Cartwell, a wild college student, as her caregiver. Their bond deepens as they navigate Kate's illness and the discovery of her husband Evan's affair with his secretary. After a suicide attempt, Kate and Bec spend a night together, and Kate eventually separates from Evan. They embark on adventures together, including visiting a woman with ALS and attending a party. Following a series of events, including the death of a friend, Kate is hospitalized. Bec is granted medical authority and takes Kate home, where they share a final night together. Kate eventually passes away, and the film ends with Bec finding personal success and a new relationship.
