The story
In 1999, humanity is troubled by a crisis: women are growing beards and cannot have children, while nuclear fanatics and their G-bomb are suspected. Professor David Moore argues that the bomb is a consequence of Albert Einstein’s discoveries. He proposes sending an expedition 88 years into the past, to Einstein’s stay in Prague, with the aim of killing the physicist by making a chandelier fall on him. The proposal sets a time-travel mission against the crisis in motion.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 1999, humanity on Earth is dissatisfied with how things are developing: women are growing beards and cannot have children. Nuclear fanatics and their G-bomb are probably to blame. Professor David Moore points out that the G-bomb is actually a consequence of Albert Einstein’s discoveries, and proposes sending an expedition 88 years into the past to kill the physicist during his stay in Prague by making a chandelier fall on him. But the expedition fails when one of its members, historian Gwen Williams, falls in love with Einstein, and another member, Professor Frank Pech, does not return from the past at all because, as a result of the changes to history, he was never born. Professor Moore’s next expedition encounters the members of Professor Grant’s band of nuclear fanatics in Prague, who are trying to prevent Einstein’s death. They join forces with historian Williams, who, out of love, saves Einstein from the assassination attempt but also convinces him that he is a lousy physicist and a brilliant violinist. Einstein therefore makes none of his discoveries. But instead of nuclear fanatics, the world in 1999 is now threatened by chemical fanatics: their fertility gas causes men to grow breasts and become infertile. The film features a number of comic mishaps, time paradoxes, and so on.
