Full plot (contains spoilers)

The film begins in 2043 at a patent office in Munich. Frank and Xaver are bored with their jobs and are also constantly bullied by their supervisor, Dr. Kneitz. One day, an inventor arrives wanting to patent a machine that can travel through time. Frank and Xaver decide to use the invention to jump back into the past and prevent their boss from being conceived. When the machine starts up, security guard Ronny is accidentally in the room as well, so the three travel to the island of Gran Canaria in 1988. Mistaking the attractive Sandy for their future boss’s mother, they then try to prevent her from having any contact with her numerous admirers. During their stay, Ronny makes contact with Cleo, who is also attractive, unaware that she is actually the future mother of Dr. Kneitz. Frank and Xaver only realize this after returning to 2043, where their boss is still around, just as unpleasant as before, but now also loud, frantic, and Black—Ronny was the one who got Cleo Kneitz pregnant in 1988. They then travel back to 1988 once again and live out their new lives in the past from then on.
