The story
Following their freshman year at Mountain College, Zed and Addison have become so focused on their respective sports that they have neglected their personal lives and friendships. While embarking on a road trip to attend separate summer training camps, a mysterious energy surge causes their vehicle to crash in an unknown territory. The group becomes separated and must navigate a landscape where they encounter two rival factions of monsters: the Daywalkers and the Vampires. These groups are locked in a long-standing feud over a dwindling food source known as Blood Fruit. Zed, Addison, and their friends must now find a way to bridge the divide between these warring factions while dealing with the escalating consequences of the energy surges.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Zed, Addison, Eliza, and Willa are traveling to separate summer camps when a malfunction caused by an energy surge crashes their car, leaving them stranded. The group splits up and encounters two rival monster factions: the Daywalkers and the Vampires, who are fighting over a dwindling supply of Blood Fruit. Amidst the chaos, young leaders Nova and Victor from each side experience mysterious visions of one another. The group eventually settles into the abandoned Camp Rayburn, where Zed and Addison attempt to act as mediators. While the two factions begin to cooperate and successfully open the gate to the Blood Fruit orchard, their elders intervene and declare war, burning half the orchard. The group eventually discovers that the dying roots of the Blood Fruit are causing the dangerous energy surges. Nova and Victor realize that by uniting their moonstones, they can heal the roots. Encouraged by Zed and Addison, they successfully unite the stones, stopping the surges and ending the feud. The film concludes with Zed and Addison choosing to value their relationships over personal achievements, while Nova and Victor remain in contact, witnessing a supernatural occurrence over the ocean.
